shift kit

RE: shift kit
A transpak recalibrates the valve body, and in some models will eliminate the modulator making it similar to a full manula valve body. It often has different springs, spool valves, and related hardware to get ujoint breaking shifts.
A shift kit makes small changes like removing check ***** that soften the shift, and or making some holes a different size in the seperator plate or valve body.
If your trans is shifting good, doesnt slip, and you arent having any problems with it.. leave it alone. Old Fords shift plenty hard, they are nothing like an AOD, and they have firmer shifts than do GM transmissions. Shift kits and the like will do very little for making a trans take more power, all they do is allow it to shift harder or quicker by changing line pressure or circuit pressures.

I have the B&M transpack and it shifts incredibly hard. Great for shifting through the gears manually (which I normally do anyway), but if your looking for around town "D" driving, it may be a little rough. It will chirp the tires even with a little gas. The manual valve bodies seem to pull some extra rpm's out of each gear when it is shifting on its own in D.
