RE: This is what we want.
it's called Group N Historic touring cars
the series is supposed to be based on the road cars that were raced in the 60's and early 70's before they moved to dedicated race cars...you know the old "win on Sunday, sell on Monday".
the original cars were allowed to improve shocks and brake pads and fit a roll cage, but the interior had to stay. Engines were factory stock with a better carb. these group n beasts have to have a head liner, passenger seats and rear seats and limited increase in wheel size (restricting brake size). Engines have to use cast iron heads, but the rest is basically free so that 289 is punching around 500hp which is a lot more than a factory one!!!!
its a very popular category here but unfortunately one that is very expensive to get in to. THat mustang would sell for $140-160k or more. John Mann's car (the one doing the chasing) is for sale for $148k.

You arent allowed sponsors (as the original cars had no sponsors) so its a case of he with the biggest cheque book usually wins. the front runners even have air jacks built in to the cars and check out the webers and underhood tray setup.

Looks like John may not have had the most HP, but definitely drove better. I love that webber setup on the blue coupe. Just wished the guy had better lines. You could see the frustration with John trying to get around him.
Now that is what racing is all about! Water hazards, and talk about no run off area!
They'd have a full course corinary over here if cars were spinning off the track and parked dead on the side of the track.
Yeah, that's real racing! Wish we could ship all the lawyers off to some sinking island so we could do that here.
That was a great video.
Thanks for sharing!

Hey Brandon, dont you guys have a vintage race series like that over there?
the series on the clip is expensive at least for the front runners in V8 mustangs, local FOrds and GM products. If you want to race a Lotus Cortina or Mini Cooper S its not so bad. Personally, I just muck around on the circuit at club level. It's relatively cheap and you dont need to be Bobby Rahal to go out and have a bit of a dip. Mind you I'd whop his *** if he came to my local track!!!

We have a few series that you can run in. Along with a Vintage race series, if you stay close to original. You start off with basic track days, until you are certified, then move up into the race classes.
Auto-X (racing through a tight cone track) is pretty much open as long as your car passes tech. It's cheap, and a real adreneline rush.
