Drive it like any car.

1) According to the condition of the car.
2) According to your own abilities.
3) According to the road conditions.

And remember, as original, the Mustang won't handle as well and won't stop as fast as a modern car. That doesn't mean you can't have some fun once and a while, though.

if you get some coil overs and IRS or even 620's and heavier duty leafs it would do wonders i bet....

yeh, that'd be nice and the rack and pinion steering to go with. But seriously, Lumbergh is right on the money. If you take the stang out for a good belting everynow and then, sure you may break something on the car (nice axles, Dodge!) but the weakest link is actually the brakes. IMO standard mustang brakes, especially the 4 wheel drum set up, are arguably among the worst performing brakes since Fred Flintstone's feet. People talk about power to weight ratio's for performance cars. With a Mustang (or most other cars of the 60's and 70's), you ought to consider power to brake ratio's!!

I floor every car I own often. Its also why I own mostly V8s, because a 4 or a 6 isnt satisfying. Having to plan for 20 minutes just to pass someone on a 2 lane road isnt my idea of fun. I dont drive like a ricer, darting in and out of traffic and acting like a tool, but I dont drive like a grandma either. Funny thing is the 98 Formula is a quick car and they top end around 150, its modern, has brakes and great handling to go with the power, yet its never seen over 100mph since I bought it. Where as all my old cars get well over 100mph in every 1/4 mile pass.

If I trust it enough to drive 30 miles, it will see wide open throttle often enough. maybe not tire spin and sliding around like a 15 year old who stole moms Astro van, but they arent babied. Mind you the cars I have with the large ci engines can break a normal set of tires loose at any speed under 80mph or so. the 70 GTO with 275 65 15s will smoke the tires for over an 1/8 mile. I dont do it often, but it will so i gotta be careful about when and where I apply the throttle to it.

If you build it, you better drive the mo fo

if its been sitting for 40 years, dont test it...unless you plan to rebuild it
