Default Floor Pan

Hey everyone I have a question... Ok so my 64 1/2 has a hole in the passenger floor pan (area from floor to firewall) I saw a replacement floor pan in Cjponyparts for like 100 bucks or so I dont exactly remember, but when cutting the old one out whats the best way to go about it? When I say that I mean do I cut it to the best that I can from the measurements of the new one or what? sorry Ive never had to replace part of a floor.
