Cowl Damage (minor?) **PICS**
Well I was cleaning my car and workspace up today and decided to peak at the cowl. When I felt in there I first tought it was a stuck leaf so I took it out, turned out it was a layer of metal! If not a layer of metal (can u even get layers of metal to peel? lol) it was some kind of product put on top of the cowl.
Well when I looked in there I see some rust spots. Nothing is rusted through the cowl, but one spot seems like it is close to. It is all still solid metal, so whats the best thing I can do to stop it? Should I simply sand down and clean the area in there and blast it with some rust encapsolater(sp)? I hear good things about POR15. Can I get that at say Kragens or Autozone? What are some other options.
Thanks everyone for their help.
PS: don't mind the over spray on the cowl
Here's some random pics of the work I've done on my car, enjoy!

You are so lucky that you have access to your cowls.
Yes, +1 on the por 15. I have used it all over my engine bay and frame rails.
Tough stuff. I have even spilled phosphoric acid on painted panels and it did not harm the por-15 at all.
By the way, all though it is made to go over seasoned (rusted) metal, I still clean up the rust as best as possible and treat bare metal/rust with phosphoric acid. Kills any rust left and leaves a phosphate coating that is an excellent prep for painting. Por-15 makes this, which they recomend using on bare metal. Its called metal prep. However, it is about 15-20 for a pint. You can get it at home depot at the same price for a gallon. I use it on all metal surfaces, and parts too. This is what the factory used-albeit a much more professional process-for phosphate and oil hardware. Also helps prevent flash rust on bare metal.
Also, por-15 is not meant to go over other paint. made to adhere to rusted or preped clean metal. So you either strip the paint or just go over the bare spots.
Good luck, car looks great. My first car was a 69 sportsroof / Wimbleton White. Why I ever got rid of it I'll never know, but alas, I was young and foolish. Now have a 67 C Code Coupe-burnt amber, bench seat.

Thanks everyone for the support, POR15 it is!!! I'll talk to my dad so we can order it. I defenitely don't want to have to do one of these infamous cowl repairs, so I better stop it while i can.
secondmustanger, on a 66 I believe the cowl vents are welded onto the body of the car. On a 69 howerver (dunno what the other years are) the cowl vents are on a panel that can simply be removed by popping off the wipers and taking out a few bolts.
