With the Revelare Designs cowl hood everyone was afraid to cut into the hood to fit the Aerocatch flush mount pins. One place agreed to do it, but quoted between $400 and $1,000 just to install the pins. So I opted to go with the more traditional pin. But this is a black pin with a black plate and screws; once I can find a black pin I will swap that too. At 75 MPH I was getting a LOT of hood shake and was concerned that the hood would not stay latched.







It turned out better than expected. I really wanted the Aerocatch, but all the shops were afraid they would stretch the paint and would have to then repaint the hood - or worse, that they would slip just a little and have a major repair to do on what they called a rare hood. I had it up to 90+ doing some data logging and it is much more stable now.

 

Looks good! I installed some round polished billet hood pins awhile ago. I thought about the Aerocatch but I just didn't like how you had to cut such a large oddly shaped hole for it. Was afraid I would fudge it up during the cut.

 

That body style has this problem as well? I had to do this on my 07 GT.

 

Something happened recently and the hood hasn't been dancing as much. I was at the track and someone told me that the air dam/rock guard under the engine was loose. On a pass, it tore off. Ever since, the hood has been more stable.

So my guess is that the loose air dam/rock shield disrupted the air flow enough to cause some of the movement.

Those are sharp, but $300 really!? I buy a set of those for sure if the price was more reasonable.

 

They are expensive, but they are also really well made, they don't work on fiberglass though since you need to screw the posts into the metal on the hood, but for stock hoods they can't be beat, especially if you don't like the look of hood pins.
