Default 8.8 inch rear-end

It's probably somewhere in the FAQ's but I couldn't find it so was wondering if someone could tell me. I want to switch out my 8" in my 68 and put in an 8.8" with posi from a later model mustang or??? due to disc brakes and the posi not to mention stronger axle. How much HP/torque can the 8.8 stand in stock form? My 408 stroker is coming this week so I'm wondering what to do here. I do have access to an old 9" out of a 69 Cougar but it's not posi and no disc brakes. Which late year mustang rear-ends will fit without major modification (like shortening the axles and tubes)? Thanks before hand.
