newest problem dripping carb
i am slowly determining that i hate cars
i finally got my hesitation problem solved and now my vacuum secondary boostersare dripping which is causing all kinds of problems
if you hold the throttle open and crack the secondaries it clears up for a minute or two but then starts dripping again
it is a brand new holley 4160C
the floats are non adjustable
there isnt even a sight window
i am now beginning to think that its the car because the edelbrock i had on it before was doing the same thing
that is why i went to the holley because i couldnt get the edelbrock to stop dripping
i did notice fuel dripping from the right side of the carb by where the vacuum secondary hooks to the rear butterflies
nothing constant just a little wet with fuel

RE: newest problem dripping carb
4160 floats ARE adjustable, and there should be a large screw on the side of the bowl that is removable to see the gas level. to adjust the float, crack the flathead screw loose on the top of the bowl and turn the hex net in or out, then tighten up the screw again. the gas level should be right at the bottom of the sight hole on the side of the bowl, trickling out as the motor is running is fine.

RE: newest problem dripping carb
nope no screw
there is a brass plug where the screw is supposed to be on the top of the bowls
therefore no screw on the side
i have a very old 4160 that has adjustable floats so i know what to look for
the instructions say that they are factory preset and therfore have no need for adjustment
i can post a pic of the carb if it will help

RE: newest problem dripping carb
use the bowls off the other 4160, they should swap right over right? if not, open the bowls up and clean out the carb you have on there now. maybe there is something keeping the float from closing the needle/seat (i cant see the float being out of adjustment if its all sealed in there, of course it could be not floating anymore)

RE: newest problem dripping carb
took everything apart and there is this wax like substance everywhere
all over the power valve, needles, jets floats
i cant describe it but it feels and looks almost like toothpaste or plumbers putty
wierd
i know i have a fuel filter its right before the line goes into the carb
