RE: CAR OVERHEATED REALLY BAD TODAY!!
I'm thinking either thermostat or water pump.
There are a couple of ways to tell if you blew a head gasket. If the car still runs, fill the radiator back up and start the car. If you see bubbles of air in the coolant you probably have a blown head gasket. Also, milky colored oil is a sign. If you have green coolant, the spark plugs may have a green tint to them. White exhaust color is another sign. Tell tail sign is coolant or oil coming from the head.

Wow Adrian1, i cant stress howmuch money you will waste by just simply guessing at what parts to replace. You automatically assumed you needed to replace the heater core, (which i really dont understand) HAve you recently replaced the thermostat? Did you put it in the right way, believe it or not alot of ppl. screw that up and it will overheat like crazy, usually a good way to tell if its the thermostat or not is to touch right behind the therm housing on the manifold side, if it is scalding hot there and the hose going to the housing is cool, its prolly the thermostat.

get a coolant system pressure tester from autozone its a loan a tool u get the deposit back if it leaks down then u have a leak internally
also u can check the coolant for oil and the oil for water
also by starting the car with the radiator cap off if it shoots water out its blown
