Sorta defeats the purpose of having a hipo engine, doesn't it?

The 289 hipoused a solid lifter camto get it to spin to 6000 rpm to get a rating of 271 bhp. Your RV cam will most likely run out of steam before 5 grand so don't expect quite that much hp but it should be a fun driver.

The hi-po 289 was rated 271hp at 6000 rpm? I have never heard that.

Yup, and you would be amazed at how many guys think they have hipo's when they really have a plain jane 289 4bbl.

I have heard that. Really the motor might be better served to be in the hands of someone who appreciates it more. I just wanted a 289 that would snap my neck a little. But this one fell into my hands and it serves the purpose. I get annoyed by those who choose to be suspicious as much as I get annoyed by those who choose to say they have something they don't have. I just smile and let them talk.

Always wondered what specs a 3/4 cam has... especially since its a term used for flatheads..
I always thought it was a term used back in the day: "A 3/4 race cam", instead of the "full race" cam. I can remember this term being used when I was a kid in the 70s, but I havent heard this in a while.
