Default pulsing carb

I put a Edlebrock 600cfm on and it pulsed. Holding the throttle steady it reved up and down and wouldn't idle. Swapped carbs with a friend and it ran fine. Is this an adjustment or in need of a rebuild?
thanx

If it was a vacuum leak wouldn't my friends do the same? Any tips for rebuilding?

You could have trash in the carb, so a rebuild kit it most likely your best answer.
