I think it's just people dreaming in most cases. I see idiots reaching for the sky when they are selling their classics. Locally here on Craigslift there is a piece of crap 69 coupe. He is advertising it as pure muscle for $9000! I can buy a 65-66 fastback for a little more. Sure it will need some work, but that's what I like to do.

The price for anything is governed by what someone is willing to pay,,, + tax, fees, and licensing....

Absolutely true!

FYI- I purchased my 66 A Code for $5500 from the second owner 2 years ago. All of the body panels' date codes match and the only thing missing was the engine tag (the engine was previously rebuilt and possible the tag got lost during this procedure). At the time, I thought I paid too much but it had what I was looking for- Not a rust bucket equipped in the Frankenstein fashion.

Thanks for the great news! that means if I hold onto my 66 coupe for atleast 10-20 yrs, I'll be able to recoupe the money i'veinvested in her.
Once you factor in inflation, you'll probably be no further ahead than you are now.And of course, that doesn't even factor in all the additional money you'll likely "invest" in her over the next 10-20yrs.

While they've gone up in value a bit faster in the recent years, thereis no reasonto expect that to continue to happen as fast. They've typically just kept up with inflation over the last 40yrs. Compared toa normal/newercar (that depreciates) that's a great deal. But for an "investment" that you're wanting to grow, few cars make good financial investments.
