Default 68 suspension

i have a 1968 coupe with I6 engine... probably going to upgrade the engine to at least a V8 289, 302 or EFI Swap.

i have read the faq on what suspension parts need to be upgraded. But , i thought i read a post somewhere saying the I6 and V8 suspension on the 67/68's were the same the only that needed to be replaced was the spindles.
is this true?
also what about the rear end?

TIA

The rear end will need to be changed. Probably an 8 inch, but if you're putting out more than 400hp, you're going to need a 9". Not 100% sure about the suspension, but I believe you're right.

the i6 and v8 suspension is the same , even the spindles, the springs, brakes, and shock/stuts will need to be upgraded and well as a conversion to a 5 lug. an 8" will be fine, but remember there is no such thing as overkill on suspension, it is the key to power/upgrades.

Just to back up USMCrebel, the 6 and 8 cyl suspension parts are the same. It does matter if it's PS or MS though. You should upgrade the brakes to the 8 cyl versions, (hyd are bigger) and 5 stud hubs/axles. I don't know if the 6cyl rearend will take 5 lug axles or not.

The suspension on the front is the same. I would recommend doing disc brakes on the front utilizing the spindles you have. They are the same as V8 spindles. A good used 8 inch will work fine to convert the rear to 5 lug. Springs and shocks I wouldn't touch until you get the engine in the car a see the stance. It may sit slightly lower in the front but that looks better IMO. The front sway bar is smaller on the I6 cars and should be upgraded to a larger one.
