If you don't fit, try this fix. It will give 1-2 more inches under the wheel. I would not be worried about fitting into the car. they can be adjusted. The question is wheather you want a Mustang or not. If so, then do what you need to do to make it work for you.

I feel like my 67 has more interior room than my 95 GT, expect for when I would put the top down. You can't beat the interior space of a convertible with the top down.
