Seatbelts: 4Pt vs 2Pt

Seatbelts: 4Pt vs 2Pt
I am hoping everyone could provide insight. I was hoping to add 4 pt belts to a completely stock interior setup (65 fastback). A close friend of mine did this with some Simpson belts and never had a problem. I have heard that due to the low seats that an action could have bad damage on your back in a 4 pt setup since it will push down on your shoulders in a severe accident. I am looking for better protection from going forward and I dont think I want to attempt the 3pt conversion yet. I have seen great setups from people on here, but need a bit more experience. Thoughts?

Why bother with a 4? I don't see why a 3 point is not an option - it's really easy, and took about an hour to do for me. Though, it did take a while to get all my parts together, but it's just standard hardware and plates you can get on the internet.

MySavior/Steve,
How would you mount the top portion of the seatbelt for support above shoulder? I have looked at the kits from Wesco, but figured I would have to do too much welding. Mr classic has done this, but I can do everything but weld. Here is the link to what he did below.

That's JamesW's install. He did it w/o welding, as I did.

You are correct about the old 2-pt. seat belts - if the head trauma does not injure or kill you, the potential exists for serious lumbar spine injury (Google "Chance Fractures" aka seat belt fractures for more info) with these old style 2-pt. belts. A 3-pt seatbelt should be adequate for street use and injury mitigation.
Sorry I cannot help with the other technical aspects of installation - the guys on this forum sure can though!

FWIW, I mounted mine per JamesW's instructions and it came out great. A slightly lower mounting point hidden behind the interior panel would look great but may be a lot more work.
Good luck!

True, It would be nice though. I think I will go with the install method given. It does put it a little further forward and maybe in the way of someone getting in the backseat, but then I think about how no one ever rides back there. I plan on ordering the wescos in a couple weeks. Thanks everyone.
