Haggerty will not insure it in your name. You have to be 25. Even if you insure under your grandfathers name, you can't drive it because you are under 25.

At the current time being I have American Collectors...I pay, I think, 65 dollars. BUT I will say that atm I don't drive her often, I'm still working onmy carand wanted insurance so I could test the engine and run it every so often around the block. My main insurance on my Jeep is AIG but they told me they would not insure my car due to the age, no matter the condition! When its done I will probably look for DD insurance from somewhere.

You could try to have the insurance in one of your parents' names, and just have you be a driver of it or something. Be careful tho cuz if you do something in a shady way and then something happens they will do everything they can to get out of paying for it.

I'm paying $20 per month right now. The car is sitting while I work on it (just got it in August) but I needed plates to keep it legal if I move it to the street or drive it to the shop. I have Illinois Antique plates which allow both uses along with driving to and from shows. In the spring I plan to replate with normal plates and I anticipate about $40 per month. I'm 56, no claims, last ticket 37 years ago, three cars and the house with the same company. Commuting is under two miles one way, which makes a big difference. I also was able to insure the car for a set amount ($8500). It's with SAFCO.

Ah well, was worth a try. And the ticket I have is a 65 on the freeway where the speed limit is 60. They chose to pull me over instead of the red Camaro with California license plates to the left of me going the same speed. Bad luck, I guess! [:'(]Thanks for all the responses!

With haggerty mine is registered as a daily seasonal summer driver, and my rate is like $400 from april 1 till oct 31st. i am 20. They insured it under my name. Not sure where everyones getting their ideas or maybe its different in mi. I have 3 tickets in my name, and have had my license taken away once (for doing double-over on the freeway... in the stang [[I have since grown up.... think i just needed to get it out of my system.]]) so yeah I love haggerty.

I'm using regular use insurance on both my mustang right now ($150 / month for the 2 of them) because the driving restictions with classic car policies are more than I can stomach and I refuse to lie to get a policy just to then have something bad happen and have the insurance company find a way to cancel my **** without payment because I was driving the car to work some nice sunny Wednesday.
Ding, ding, ding! I too, use standard insurance (agreed value) through my regular carrier. In addition to not wanting the driving restrictions, I need to make sure that it is properly insured under the requirements of my umbrella policy. Don't want to get sued!!!
