Default Question..

yo, i read the swap thread but i was wondering how much $$ it would all cost.. and is it worth it.. i prob would be paying a mechanic also.. i just bought a 85 LX Conv. with 105,000 miles for $1500.. first car, and its cheap on insurance.. i raelly wanted a 5.0 but it was too much on insurance.. now if i did a swap , how much would everything cost about..

If you're going from a 4 banger to a 5.0, you won't be reusing the original tranny [:@]
But seeing you have an automatic now, it would probably be easier to replace it with another tranny that'll work with the 5.0, rather than going standard, unless you can get the complete clutch pedal unit. If you do swap to standard, don't screw with the stock adjusting set-up. Just get a good aftermarket cable, quadrant and adjuster and do away with the stock cable set-up.

Don't forget about your rear-end when you swap the motor.
If you have the 7.7 rear, it may not last very long behind the 5.0, especially if you're doing burnouts or hard launches.
Look for an 8.8 rear to swap in there.
