Treating hard to reach rust behind bumper trim
The vertical bumper pieces (whatever they are called) on my 65 which run from the front bumper down the valance are beautiful on the outside but have rust on the inside. I have them off right now and I'm trying to figure how and if I should treat them. The inside is too tight for a wire brush and too deep for the Dremel. Plus, I don't think I can get behind the bolt flanges. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe flushing them out as good as I can using the pressure hose at the car wash and then using POR 15.

por 15 would prolly be good. rustoleum also sells a spray rust inhibitor, but you would just have to mask off your chrome really well. Someone correct me if thats a bad idea tho, i have only used it on floorboards.

I'd wrap a scotchbrite around a screwdriver and knock the rough scale off...then soak the inside down with a paper towel soaked in Ospho. Ospho is basically Phosphoric Acid, and when applied to iron oxide, converts the surface to Iron Phosphate. After that, daub it with some Rustoleum paint and you're good to go.
