Oil or PS leak?

RE: Oil or PS leak?
Well, the PS fluid must be really old. I got in it to pull it into the garage so I can check everything out... and my power steering was totally gone. Luckily there was ice all over the road so it wasn't too bad steering.
I'm going to go and find the leak, and give the PS system a tune up. In the meantime, will it damage anything to steer without the power steering system complete? I've heard of people removing the belt, etc. Does it damage anything leaving the belt in place and driving on an empty leaky system?

Power steering fluid is supposed to be RED.It usually turns a brownish color after awhile from getting hot.Do not drive the car without fluid in the PS Pump or you will destroy it as the fluid is what lubricates it!!You can remove the PS belt to move it for a short distance! Good Luck!![8D]
