yes you can drop a 5.0 into the 289 mounts, same block diffrent stroke, and you wont need to fab anything up.
next question... do you have the complete 5.0 setup? if so then dont worry about the other stuff posted above, if your building just build a normal 5.0 and put it in.

+1 thats what im saying. And what auto trans came with the 5.0? and do i need a new drive shaft or what??
did/ do you have an auto tranny in there now, if you do it should be the c4, and its the same tranny up until '96 i believe. so you shouldnt need a new drive shaft, i didnt.
5.0 auto= C4

5.0 auto= C4


if your getting the 5.0 from a late model mustang,vic,lincoln etc. its gonna be backed by an AOD tranny. Which is over drive, the aod uses the same flywheel as a fmx i believe. But a small bell housing c4 is not gonna be able to take the larger aod bellhousing so you gonna need a 50oz C4bellhousing
