Default Plating

I am looking at replating both rear quarter window frames and vent window frames. Wondering how much it might cost and how long it took. all four pieces are pitted pritty badly would i be better off getting new ones?
Thanks

Talk to the chrome shop for prices and if they can fix them it might be cheaper to replace. Look up the replacement ones price if fixing yours is more you know what to do.

I tell ya, if I had the money to recrome and fix the originals, I would do that. The new reproductions just arn't the same, fitment, quality, everything. Thats why I'm keeping all my original stuff so I can get them all fixed up one day down the road when I have that kind of money.

But reproductions can be good, just don't expect it to be perfect. But sometimes the $ savings will make it worth it

Wow, uncanny knowledge and use of common sense!

Common sense is not dead!

When I re-did my brother's '66 vert in the early 90's, we had all the original pieces rechromed at a place that was 'dodging the EPA'. Even then, I believe it was nearly $800 for everything. I shudder to think what it would cost now. It is hard to compete with cheap Chinese plating. So, like almost everything with these cars, it comes down to how much you're willing to spend.

You can still find some original one's. There is a mustang parts yard around here. If you want his number or I can check with him if you tell me exactly what you want. Problem with him is, cash only and no shipping, but I will help you out with that. [PM]
