Default Carb Help

Whats everyones opinion on Carter Carbs? I have a 302 that I need a carb for and I guy on craigslist has what seems to be a good deal.

Here are the specs:

Carter AFB 4V [four-barrel] 625cfm. Has factory kickdown arm [just visible at right edge of pic] for auto trans. This is very similar to an Edelbrock 1406 but they don't make a model for Ford A/T - you have to buy a bolt-on kickdown adaptor for an extra $15 or so - ouch! Built-in electric auto choke for easy installation on any intake manifold. Chem-cleaned and assembled with new gaskets and accel pump seal. Can calibrate with your choice of fuel jets and metering rods. He's also including the spacer.

Everything for $100 shipped.

I haven't heard much about Carter carbs- any input would be great.

Thanks

Buy it! Carter AFB's are good carbs, looks like a Eldebrock, but they are not. It is worth that even if it wasn't rebuilt.

Edelbrock is an almost exact copy of the AFB, if I remember right they bought the rights to make the carb from Carter. Some metering rods and jets will fit either brand. For $100 I would jump on it.
