Help with Battery size
I just put a new battery tray in my 1966 289.The old battery was smaller then the tray, but I was able to get the hold down clamps to work...anyway the battery is dead...I have to buy a new one
What is the correct size to fit the tray/clamp....what group number?
I was just at sears and the book didnt go back to 1966
Probbaly will buy a sears die hard for 80 to 100 dollars
I have a sock alternator too
Thanks in adavnce Scott

RE: Help with Battery size
Do you have the top or side hold downs? If you have side hold downs, you'll need the Sears 24FH battery (iirc), as all of the standard 24F's have long since had the side hold down provisions deleted. I used to work at Sears, had to deal with this a couple times.
Personally, I wouldn't buy a Die Hard, not at the prices Sears is charging for them now. Napa's batteries (made by Exide, instead of Johnson Controls) are just as reliable, IMO. Or you could just go to CarQuest and pick up the same battery you'd get at Sears for a fraction of the cost.
