painting question
question is how long do you all recomend letting bondo sitand air out before painting? The reason I am asking is I painted my exploder a few years ago and had a couple blisters appear in a spot that I used bondo. Later I was told it was because I didn't allow it to cure enough before painting. I am only using a skim coat where needed.

RE: painting question
Usually when filler blisters like that you may have some raw spots in the mix. I have never used the bondo brand( unles you are using the term generically). We use evercoat on everything we do but if it was not mixed enough with the hardner than it will blister up(make sure there are no light streks in filler after mixed). Usually if it is dry enough for primer than you are ready to go. Just as a precaution you could give it an hour or two to vent but this should be done before priming. Once you prime you a locking the chemicals down. I have primed over filler 30mins. after spreading and have really had any problems. If your are just topcoating I would recomend using evercoat metal glaze it comes in a quart and sands alot easier than regular filler. Good luck and hope this helps.......

RE: painting question
could it have been that I had it out in the hot sun too early? The only problem spot was on the roof. Another question is. I am painting the car black with ralley stripes and am going to coat over with candy purple. I am going to paint the engine compartment and interior first so I can undercoat the car and the floor boards. What are your thoughts on using single stage for the engine bay and interior and spraying my clear over that later when I am doing the rest of the car. That way I can do my ralley stripes on the firewall and have the purple in the bay to match the exterior.

RE: painting question
JUST WONDERING CAN filler allow moisture to come thru, say when he filled the roof if there were drill holes that were filler could it allow moisture to come thru and bubble the paint?
should you seal body filler on both sides if there is a situation like that ?

RE: painting question
That could possiblly be a problem years down the road but i have seen cars repaired that way way that the repair was still holding up a good 20yrs after the repair with out being sealed on the backside.
