Default a different tire question

i have a 66 fastback. i am going to get new tires and rims. i am thinking either 15 or 16 by 8. i have a 4 link in the rear and the mustang II superide. the normal upper ball joint clearence is not an issue with the different front suspension i don't think. could i fit 8 inch rims with 245 45 16 all the way around? i think 4.75 bs would work. just looking for confirmation before i buy.

I just bought 17X8 for the front, 4.5" bs, fit good. Any more bs would be really close, I have the TCP sus up front. 17X10 for the rear, 5.5"bs, fit good. I could have gone 5.75"bs for the rear and been ok. I don't have the setup you have and mine is a 67. Not sure all the diffs between the two as far as wheel fitment goes. I had trouble finding info for what I was looking for, for the setup I had. The best way to know for sure is to measure that actual bs of your car before dishing out the cash for new wheels.

zmetal do you have awider (than stock) rear end? 5.75 seems quite a bit. Thanks for the info but i am pretty sure the 66's are different than the 67's.Like you said, its hard to find info on an unusual setup.

No I have a standard 9" rear. I think on the 67's there is a little more room in the wheel wells. I will have to roll the fenders to but an additional 3/8". It should be nearly perfect, any wider and I'd be screwed.

I have 17x8's with 245/45's and they fit .....barely.....with a 4.5 backset. If I had it to do again I would get 4.75 backset.

colostang. would 245 45 with a 4.75 bs fit better? are these on all four corners? i think i am going with a 16 inch rim. so i would get 245 50 16.

the bigger the rims, the bigger the backspace usually

check out dodgestangs site for reference on what will fit. you'll see the effect with the bs there as well
