How interchangable are exhaust parts with the classics?
I'm getting a new exhaust set up for my '67 coupe and I'm tryin to go with used parts to save some money. It's got a 289 in it with '72 heads and what looks like stock exhasut manifolds. I'm wondering how interchangable are headers amongst all 289s and 302s? I'm assuming that if headersbolt toone 289 then they'llbolt toany 289 and the same with 302s? Is this true? I would think that I would just have to worry about clearance in the engine compartment. I was also told that the 289 and 302 use the same block. Is this true?
As far as H pipes go, I would think that would be a little easier. As long as they match upwith theheaders,Idon't see a big issue. I guess the bottom line is how much luck have you guys had with going with used exhaust partsa few years off from the actual year of your car? I usually stick with the fox body's and it's a lot easier to find parts.I hope some of that made sense.

one big think to be careful about is that if you upgrade from factory single exhaust to dual, you might have to move the brakelines in the back. they might overheat with the exhaust nearby
