Car keeps stalling
Need some help, have 64.5 mustang Conv. 260 still on generator.Tryed starting car after sitting for winter ,started with choke on ran for awhile once car was warmed up the choke turned off thecar ran for a few min. then sputtered and dyes ,try restarting car wouldn't start. Jump started car itfired up I took the car for alittle drive, ran for 5 min. sputteed thendied. I flaged over a car to jump start me, fires upbareley made it home. I think it might be a died battery, but horn works lights pretty good volt meter reads 12 volts when Icrank it goes to 3-4 volts. Pull off positive and negative cables off car, connect to my van via jumper cables(battery good)car starts up runs for a few minutes sputters and dyes. Now dont have a clue. I checked the starter solunoid and coil both are good. (replaced both with extras I had that where good) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Roland. ps car ran fine when I stored it.

RE: Car keeps stalling
Yep, generator cars need a really good battery to run at idle since the generator doesn't put out a lot of amperage at slow speeds. Get your battery tested / charged. You also may have a fuel delivery problem causing the car to stall when the car dies check if you can see fuel coming out of the accel pump ( pump the throttle). If no, you may need to checlk your fuel pump and carb float circuits for proper operation.

RE: Car keeps stalling
Thanks for info.old battery is dead now. Will get new one and try that.Per chance is there a way to check the voltage regulator and generator for proper operation, also gas is sqirting into carb I can see it.The thing that is confussing me is this stalling happened also when the car was hooked up to a good battery making me think voltage regulator. Roland.
