Default 1966 Mustang console "map" door light

Can anyone explain to me how this light works-I get the impression when the door opens the light comes on and goes off when shut....I just doent understand the "switch" or what makes contact....I see a small pieceof metal sticking off that is conected to the opening where the bulb is placed.
Is the console grounded out a certain way?
Thanks Scott

When you open the console door it completes the ground to the light.
If you like I can send you the wiring diagram in a microsoft word doc.
