Default Funky turn signals on '65

The turn signals on my '65 have been acting up for a while and i thought you folks might be able to help. The problem is when the lights are on and you flip on the left turn signal, the light on the right side goes out. Also, the right turn signal will only flash on and off, unlike the left with flashes on then brighter. What might be causing this to happen?

The problem is that you have a lot of gunk between the switch points, and that has to be cleaned for a positive contact. Also, replace your bulbs......They are a cheap fix.

Thanks. The problem started (as far as i know) when i changed the bulb in the left signal, so it makes sense that it could have something to do with the bulbs. Also, the contacts are filthy so that also makes sense.

No luck I changed the bulbs and cleaned all the contacts, both on the back of the lamp and on the inside where you slide the bulb in, and it still does the same thing. Any other suggestions?

Did you take out the turn signal and clean the contacts on it?

Now i have to ask the stupid question.... Where is this mysterious turn signal that you speak of? Inside the column?

if you have to change your blinker switch in the steering column do not use a reproduction part. I have changed mine 3 times with repro's and i still have problems with the switches. they work for a little while but not long.

If you are speaking of your front outside turn signal/parking light, one or both of them probably have bad housing grounds.

I second that. Make dang sure you have good grounds. Take out the housing and clean the grounding/contact sections well.
