roof progress
I have been slowly finishing my roof. I tried to finish the area around where the gutters was but was not satisfied with the results. I finally managed to bend my sheet metal at a sharp enough curve for my door surround. I tried to weld and grind the seam where the roof skin and door opening meet but was not happy with the look and I wanted to get rid of the bump out that is just above the lip(under the gutter). I used a hammer and anvil to the top portion to achieve the natural curve of the roof. I cut relief cuts in the rear pillar to get the curve of the pillar.. The last pic is a drawing of how I bent the metal so that I could hide the seam under the door moulding and with how I bent it it allows me to hide the moulding so i dont see the chrome after it is installed(I will paint the chrome anyways). On the front pillar I am going to wrap the pillar since I am going to attempt to make flush mounted wind shields front and rear.

That is some nice work. The finished product will really look great. These roofs were not all that smooth from the factory. On mine there are minor ripples where it meets the quarters, but they've been there 44 years so I left them.

I made a little more progress today welding and griding on the roof. I ran into a little snag though. I thought that I saved my original front windshield even though it was cracked but I am must have thrown it away some time ago. I need it for my mock up of the flush mounted windshield. If any one in the Vancouver WA has a garbage windshield for a 65 coupe they are interested in getting rid of let me know.
