Default New Blood for the '65

Picked up a new engine for the '65 today. Mine needs to be rebuilt and I want to rebuild it myself (might take me a little while). So I found this one that a guy pulled out of his 66 so he could shove a 429 in it. I picked it up along with the C4 tranny for $500. I don't need to tranny so, I'll be sticking with my 4-speed, I haven't figured out what I'm doing with it yet. The guy also had a complete 8" rear if anyone needs one.

It is a 289. I was originally looking for a 302, but I found this and couldn't pass it up.

It is a 2V. Carb looks very clean (or has been rebuilt), plus it already has a mallory distributor on it. I plan on doing a gasket job on it and just running it as is until I get my original engine ready to be put back in. Anyone know how much a good Felpro gasket kit usually costs?

I did have one question though, it almost looks like it has two doubled up .5" spacers under the carb. That doesn't seem right to me, anyone ever heard of doing that?
