Default Rich burning Carb

Hi all,
I have a gas odor when I am in the car. I start it and noticed that there is lots of dirty gas around the carb. When I rev the car, I see the gas spraying all inside the carb. Is this normal. I thought you only see the gas going down the venturi. I bought A rebuilt kit and was going to attempt to rebuilt. Any suggestions.

Thank you

What kind of carb is it?

Spraying gas when you move the throttle is normal. It is called an accelerator pump and nozzle.

Is the carb rich or do you maybe have a gas leak somewhere? Maybe a bad gasket, seal, or o-ring?

I have a two Barrel autolite 2100 Carb. I assumed then when I saw gas on the outside of the carb that it may have been spraying in a bad pattern. Or maybe two much gas in the carb and not burning off.
