Question Stroker Fuel System

Hi all,

I'm thinking of upgrading to a 347 or perhaps even a supercharged 347. To accommodate an engine this size, I will probably have to upgrade my fuel line to an 3/8 - 1/2" line. I think I want to stick with the stock fuel tank.

Has anyone out there completed this upgrade? What type of sending unit are you using with this set-up? What type of fuel line are you using (braded vs solid)?

Thanks.

when you say sending unit, are you refering to the pump and fuel reg? or the gas tank sending unit? but if your gona run an electric pump, dont run the line too close to the exhaust, or you will get vapor lock, i learned the hard way

I'm thinking about the sending unit at the fuel tank end. If I'm increasing the line diameter, I'm guessing that I also need to increase the diameter of the tubing leading out of the fuel tank.

Is everyone that runs a 1/2" line using fuel cells?

Thanks

1/2 seems like a lot for a 347.... but lets wait and see what some other people are running

CPR is running a 349 stroker. So he should be able to help once he gets in here.

Its more about the amount of power you plan to be making that would influence the fuel line size rather than the size of the engine. If I remember correctly the 5/16 lines are good for 350HP 3/8 will get you to 500+. So unless you're going to putting down close to 600HP or more I think the 3/8 line would be fine.

I have a 6AN size line with a stock sending unit. My car has over 400 RWHP and is somewhere about 475ish at the crank. No problems with me.

I did a basic fuel system upgrade when I installed my 383. What I did was pull the tank, weld in a sump. Then I built a plate and mounted a Barry Grant electric pump. It died shortly after installation, so I now have a Holley black electric fuel pump. In between the pump and the tank, I mounted a canister fuel filter with a braided AN10 fuel line feeding them. From the pump to the front of the car, I ran a braided AN8. The front side of the line terminates into a Barry Grant pressure regulator. From there it goes AN8 to the fuel log. I have a pressure gauge mounted to that to check everything with.
AN Size - Hose OD
AN10 - 5/8"
AN8 - 1/2"
AN6 - 3/8"
