Default salvage title opinions

I'm looking at a '67 Convertible that comes with a salvage title. The guy says he replaced the inner fenders on the car. When he did so he removed the VIN that was stamped into the inner fender. He had the state of Colorado issue a new VIN number and thus received a salvage title.

It looks to be a nice car and his price is low considering its a 'vert (probably because of the title situation).

Opinions?

As the old saying goes...if it's too good to be true.....

Might be worth an email or call to the Colorado Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicles Department to see if they issue salvage titles for this situation.

Check to make sure the state actually issues salvage titles for that reason. Last year I bought my niece a car which had a rebuilt title because it had been stolen. Illinois marks stolen cars paid off with insurance with rebuilt titles. The car was never damaged but I got a big time deal on it because the rebuilt sticker on the windshield scared everyone off.
