Exclamation hey im back got some EXPLORER rear end ?'s

man i been so long away from here.. to retrieve ur password is so hard in this forum.. anywayz well i got a 65 coupe with a 347 gettin the body and paint done at the shop as we speak,.. when i get it back i wanna get some bullits for it.. anywayz long story short my brother is also building his own project.. 63 comet convertible and hes building it up from the body and frame. well he came across and is puttin a modern explorer rear end in.. my question is has anyone else done this to classic mustangs.. it comes with a factory posi and like 3.55 gears i beleive.. i know it wont just bolt up.. but ill handle that.. but has anyon has experience with puttin explorer rear ends in classic mustangs?

The problem with exploder (and other truck) 8.8's is that they have offset differentials. This knocks the pinion off-center, creating some interesting driveline angles and also moving the differential away from the pinion snubber.

I'd rather (and in fact am going to) use a fox body rear end than one from an exploder. Requires some 5 lug axles and brakes, but those are easy to find in a junkyard, and you're going to have to rebuild the rear anyway before you drop it in.

That said, what kind of power are you looking to push with that 347, and how are you going to drive it? 8.8's will hold up pretty well, but you may need to be thinking about a 9".
