Default 71 mustang electrical issue

Greetings,

I have a 71 mustang and it has developed a electrical problem. It seems like it does want to keep any electrical power in the system. As soon as you turn on the key my volt meter will go up to 12 volts then instantly drop to 0. I can hear a sylenoid or something clicking when this happens. If i hook up a car charger to start the car it constantly clicks ( constantly going from 12 volts to 0). Any ideas? I did recently remove the dash for painting but it worked fine for one engine start before this happened.

Thank you

Ryan
