Default Something is screwy with my Buck Tag

I don't have a data plate anywhere that I can find so I have nothing more to go off of except the buck tag on the drivers fender under the hood.

Let me start by saying my car is a 66 convertable, Red with white interior and top. It has a 200 Straight 6 and C4 trans. My buck tag is as follows:

D758
18 L16 6T08T152672
76A 4 25
Top - T CLEAR

Based on that info if I'm decoding this right:

D758(????- Dont Know)
18(????- Dont Know), L16(Nov. 16 Date), 6(1966), T(Newjersey origin), 08(Convertable), T(200CI Engine), 152672(production # even though there were only 56,409 conv/std's unless the 1 is indicative of something else)
76A(Convertable Standard Interior), 4(Silver Frost Paint), 25(red/Red trim Interior)
Top - T CLEAR(????- Dont Know)

I'm lost here, only thing I can think of is it was wrecked and a new front end was placed on it with that plate. I find it extremely hard to believe they found the front end off another Convertable/Standard with a straight six for the swap.

Help me out guys and throw some ideas out there. If I'm decoding my tag wrong let me know.

T clear might be Candy Apple Red with Clear coat. Don't know about the D758. The Production number is the number mustang it was on the line, not number of certain model.

"1" indicates it was built in Metuchen, NJ. Each of the three plants building Mustangs had their own series codes.

Top - T CLEAR(????- Dont Know)
TOP-T means it had a white power convertible top

… Candy Apple Red with Clear coat.
No clear coat in those days. The "clear" refers to the glass windows and windshield not being tinted.

So where does the Candy apple red come into play on the tag?

It doesn't. Your car is Silver Frost Metallic with standard Red Crinkle Vinyl and Red Rosette Vinyl interior, and White power top. An extremely rare color, by the way. Extremely. I have been involved with Mustangs for decades, and I don't think I've seen more than 2 or 3.

The "T" means white power top.

So in your opinion, would it be worth the work to restore it per the buck tag and have a repro data plate made up for it.

was the white top with red interior normal? Just seems that if all the vinyl is red the white top and cover would not look right.

The top boot always matches the seats, so you would have a red boot with your red seats and silver paint. This is gonna be outstanding. Hope you don't mind a crowd standing around your car at shows.

Photos don't do silver frost justice, you can't see the metallic, but…
