Lightbulb Want your rear 6x9 speakers to look better?

I have covered my rear package tray with black vinyl to match the rest of the interior. For years I just had the traditional aftermarket speaker grilles on my 6x9 speakers. I thought it looked kinda crappy, so I decided to get these speaker grilles. They are for the optional single rear speaker, but are a great fit for a pair of 6x9's. I just thought I would share this for those that wanted to improve the look of the rear speakers. I think it looks great!

The driver side speaker is hidden in the shadows but its there too. The old speaker covers left a small indention in the vinyl on the side of the new grilles. If it doesn't go away after being in the sun some, I'll probably recover it.

Nice job. I bought 4 bolts of vinyl for inside our car. Everything is being covered in vinyl instead of painted.

64-68 (with slight variations) offered a single speaker in the center of the panel at the rear window in the coupe. Nothing like it was available in the convertible or fastback. The grille was painted the same color as the panel.

For coupe radios I like to use a USA-66 AM/FM replica (in 64-66 cars) and similar in 67-68, with a Dual Voice Coil 4x10 in the front with both left channels, and a Dual Voice Coil 6x9 in the rear with both right channels. Great stereo separation, uses all four amp channels, and stock appearance for a 64-66 car.

I completely covered mine in vinyl then drilled holes through and mounted the speakers underneath. It is a really clean look. I was worried about the sound but as they sit in the trunk the bass is nice and the sound is great. I should be finishing mine this weekend and will post pics

Thanks. I got them from Mustangs Ulimited. I think most Mustang parts places have them. They are a bit overpriced for what they are, but I like the look and probably won't ever change it. The price really shoud be for a pair, but oh well.

I mounted mine from underneath as well. This allowed a much better fit.
