Hopefully this makes sense. The little light in my shifter assy has been a bit erratic lately, so I'm going to go through it and check everything. While I'm doing that I figure I should replace the little needle that goes in there that points to what gear you're in- mine's broken off who knows how long ago. I have no trouble telling what gear or position it's in, but I'd just like to have the needle and the light working. Anyway, does anyone know if repro needles are available, and where, or if I have to hunt down an original?

Well, we'll try one bump before I go off on my own for this.

Remember, it's the same shifter in Cougars, Torinos, and other Fords from 69-73. You might have to go for the whole shifter. You could get lucky and get a rusted one cheap since you only need the needle part. Good luck.

i'd say fabricate one yourself.

I have to wonder if a needle that only indicates position could be repaired (epoxy, solder, etc.) or reconstructed somehow.
