Default 351c oiling confusio

Hey guys,</P>

i have a question.... got a 351c and have heard many oiling solutions for it, such as main restricter plugs, oil galley restricter plugs, and external oiling systems. i would run a restricter kit but you cant run a hyd. cam(?) so i was thinking of some oil line from the galley plug next to the filter to the oil sending unit as mabe a solution while allowing a hyd. cam. for the most part i have no idea, any information would be appreciated. </P>

Thanks!</P><edited><editID>fomoco hi po</editID><editDate>37939.0837152778</editDate></edited>

What is it that you are trying to do by changing the oiling system.

something to do with the # 4 and 5 mains not geting enough oil, so the restricters (placed in the main oil holes running to the cam) stop as much oil from going to the cam, so ive head you might not be able to run a hydrolic cam and lack of oil= the cam craping out. The other route is to run a external oil line from the galley plug hole next to the filter to the oil sending unit atop the block which directs this flow to the last two mains, mabe this wont short the cam of oil? and i was told today that the cleveland diddnt need any oiling tampering, but i dont know about that. at the moment im thinking of runing the external line to not damage the cam and i like the hyd comp cam with 110 seperation 216 and 234 duration at .050 and some where in the range of .490 and .510 lift (any thoughts on that cam would help) sorry for the crappy original post, was a littler tired.

If you are keeping the rpms under 6500 you shouldn't need any major mods to the oil system other than cleaning up the oil galleys with a die grinder. Kinda like porting a set of heads the oil galleys have restrictions, remove these restrictions and blueprint the pump. Ford pumps are better than chevys but new pumps are not perfect. The main problem with Cleavlands is the fact that one of your lifter galleys also feeds the mains and if you break a rocker stud you will kick the lifter out and starve the mains. Stud girdles are a must on Cleavlands.
