Default Control arms, what brand?

It is time for me to start buying suspension components for my project. Like most things for the car, there seems to be no real way to determine who I should by from just by looking at the catalogs. I don't want esoteric stuff like tubular arms or bullet parts, just quality, safe stuff. I could get a upper and lower control arms plus spring perches off a ebay seller for $175, or spend twice that at some vendors. The only difference I can see in the pictures is the price. Most don't even list what brand the parts are.

Also, Laurel Mountain Mustang recommends their original two tone type control arms when running 16x8 wheels. What possible difference can that make?

16" wheels put the wheel lip right next to the UCA. 8" wheels require putting the wheel lip as close as possible to the UCA to make sure the wheels clear the fender lips. If you use control arms that don't have tighter tolerances at the outer lip, I imagine you'd run into clearance issues. IIRC, the OE-style two-tone control arms are made by Scott Drake. 2+2GT will know for sure.

I bought my all-black UCA's from Glazier's and, as always, I'm happy with their products and service. I've heard Laurel Mountain sells good stuff and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them. Same goes for NPD. I would, however, hesitate to buy something like this off of ebay. If there's a problem, who are you going to return the parts to?

I have the grab a trak suspension kit underneath my 66 and the suspension performes wonderfully. I would not hessitate to buy again if needed. I am running 620's with a 1 inch drop up front, 1 1/8 inch front sway bar, 5 leaf mid eye in the back, 3/4 inch rear sway bar, and the grab a track sub frame connectors. Good price, good performance in my opinion.

Mine's basically the same, 1" arm drop, 1" drop 620 springs, 5 leaf mid eye, big sway bars etc...got it all from Laurel Mountain. I also used their UCA's and LCA's. Their "concourse" 2 tone UCA uses a 3 bolt ball joint and allows for extra wheel clearance by keeping the outer edge of the ball joint closer to the chassis. It was all really affordable, and it's all repro stuff that's slightly heavier gauge than stock.
