Question Jump Starter Solenoid??

I want to do a compression test on my 200 cu in 6-cylinder. I have no one to help me (turn the key). Will it hurt anything to jump the solenoid just to crank the engine over a few times?

that's perfectly ok.
if you are on your own make sure car is out of gear, block the throttle wide open with a piece of wood in the linkage or brick on pedal. whatever you have
there's even remote starter switches, which is basically two cables with clamps and a push button.
when jumping the selonoid disconnect the cable at 'S' terminal of selonoid. to bridge it connect battery side of selonoid with 'S' terminal.

Also, pull the coil wire so it doesn't accidentally start.
