Default Overheating problem

Hi guys and gals,
I have a 66 coupe with a late 70's engine 302 and am getting some overheating problems. I am looking for any pictures of attached shroud to their radiators. I think the addition of a shroud will eliminate the problem. The radiator has been freshly re-cored and the thermostat is new and installed correctly. Thanks for all and any help possible and for any pictures that will give me a visual on getting the shroud attached to the system. It was pushing coolant out the overflow but that has been corrected. It is running to hot.

The shroud was attached to the radiator via brackets. They attach to the bolts that attach the radiator to the car, then the shroud attaches to them.

The stock 65-66 fan shroud bolts to the radiator support, via brackets. Doesn't matter what radiator you have, it'll work.

You guys should look at what type of fan you have and also how close that fan is to the radiator. I had a flex fan on my 66 fastback and it was about 2 1/2 inches from the radiator. It was running hotter than I liked. I changes to a thermostatic fan from an A/C car which brought the fan much closer to the rad. It dropped the temp 10 degrees. I don't like fex fans any way so I was happy to change it.

ya. there's flex fans that are used when you don't have a thermostatic clutch, and there's fixed blade fans that have to be used with the clutch. most mustangs I see have it all wrong: fixed blade with no clutch and no shroud

Mine now has a stock 66 fixed blade thermostatic or clutch if you prefer and I like it. I always figured you could put a shroud on any type of fan and be better off.

the fan shroud is a good idea and it will help, my dad had a 64 1/2 stang with a 260 v8 and it ran great but also ran hot at 210-220 all the time. we pulled the water pump and here half the damn fins were rotted off causing **** poor circulation, slapped a new pump on and it ran 190 in the hottest of days. just a thought

Here is something I ran into on my 66 when I first bought it. Although the engine had been rebuilt, the previous owner did not change out the hoses. The bottom hose kept collasping causing the guage to spike. Each time I let off the accelerator, the hose opened up an the guage dropped back down. Solution was to install new hoses.
