Default The fun begins...

God your project looks awful familiar....... Maybe the same color, (to start with)

Good luck with the project, takes time and money but well worth it.

That is sooo much cheaper than I could find someone in NY to do that kind of work on my car. And your avatar got me thinking about poor Dimebag...

Thanks for the comps guys.
Ask and you shall receive!!
Hood latch before and after

A pile of parts all cleaned up painted ready to go for reassembly at sometime.

The rear of the car has been cleaned, painted with Chassis Savor product and RustOleum rust convert paint. It will be painted Chassis black and the under coat in the spring.

Rear frame rails and floor.

Core support is now painted front and back as well as strut rod frames and lower rails. It has been painted with VHT Epoxy paint satin Chassis black.

I think I have gotten a long way in the first month of owner ship. I just wish we had some better weather so I could do some more painting and cleaning under side before winter hits fully. I need another good week of weather and I would have the underside fully done, then I can concentrate on the cutting out and welding of what is needed. I wanted to get what is good and solid protected first before it got any worse.

The car is in my garage and is now up on stands and is not movable, unfortunately I forgot to get some pics of it on the trailer.

Take a deep breath... step back from the car

and NEVER EVER go in yourr garage again!!!!!

i feel our 68 was in much better shape when i started my project... and would never ever do it again!!! the $$$ and time youy are going to spend in this you are never going to get back!!

if I had to do it again i would go and buy a decent restored mustang for 8-12K
and do the little fixes and save myself the 20K i put in the car and the weekends spent working on it will never be recouped.

I really don't care about either....

I have been wanting to do this to a car since I had my first car, a '70 coupe and a '70 Mach 1, at age 14 and I never had the chance to do them because I didn't have the $$$ to do it, I'm now 42 and things are different.

I don't care about the time or money that will be spent on it and I'm fully aware that I will never get the $$$ back out it, I have been into cars too long to know better.

A project like this is all about the adventure to the final out come and it will be nothing less.

Thanks for your opinion and concern, but I'm personally I'm having a ball doing this and this car is much better shape then A LOT of the cars I have seen on this board.

Thanks, at first I thought my mother was on the board, but she never even did that. LOL!!!

I know all to well what we're in for and I'm prepared for that. With a car like this unless you a got a rare car and the $$$ put into it meets it's potential worth, you'll never get it back.

The time I got into it is time that I used to watch TV after the kids go to bed, so I'm not really loosing anything there either.

I figure I got around 55-65 hrs+ into it at this point to what you see I have done so far, so I know all too well on how much time will go into this thing.
