Default 65-66 carpet in a 64.5?

I have been looking for a replacement carpet. My current carpet is the original 2 piece that is not molded and has vinyl sidewalls sewn in (the wall side from the floor to door-sill plate.) The picture shows this piece.
Places I have looked have a 64.5 specific carpet that is 2 piece but does not have the sidewall pieces. Here is a link to 64.5 Carpet by Mustangs Unlimited:

I am leaning toward the 65-66 molded carpet. The seat-pans, size and everything are be the same? Will it fit and does the carpet go all the way up under the door-sills or something else goes here?

Here is my existing carpet

The side vinyl should be glue to the car. This was not just a 64 thing, I have seen many original 65's with it, including fastbacks. Call Glazier Nolan, they can get you the carpet with serged edges, and all the vinyl you need for the early look. You have something unique and special there, why would you want it to look like all the other later model Mustangs?

GN can replicate the unique 64 sill plates, too, if you really want to make people nutz at shows.

Yes, the 65-66 carpet will fit. The floor pans are the same and the carpet will go up under the sills.

I agree with 2+2GT. Keep the character of the car. It is no special hassle to keep the original look.

You can use your original vinyl as a template to cut the new vinyl.
The vinyl can be glued with a good contact cement.

Early 65's had the vinyl behind the carpet, even though it was not visible.
You can also get the carpet from NPD and the vinyl as well.

I will absolutely keep the carpet this style. I thought the vinyl was sewn to the carpet and couldn't find it like that. (I haven't pulled it yet.).
I didn't know that the door sills were any different than any others. Now that I look at them, it looks like they go much further down on the inside.I guess I will have to look around and see what I can do about them. That would be the deciding factor since my passenger one is so bent and dented. Too damaged to be straightened.
Thanks everyone for the advice, I would really like to keep it unique to a 64.5 and stay with the original design.

No, they are much the same, and interchangeable with the later ones, BUT the 64 sills had square corners in the door opening, while the 65-68 had round corners. Glazier Nolan can provide these.
