Default Dropped Motor Mounts?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some RMP motor mounts and am undecided on the standard height and dropped mounts. The only thing really making me think twice about the dropped mounts is header clearance. And not so much ground clearance but, engine bay clearance. Has anyone using dropped mounts ran into any problems between headers and steering box or shock towers? I'm going to be running a 302 with probably Hedman Elite midlengths or Dougs midlengths.

I got em...

I ran into a few issues

1) The drag link now hits the oil pan it hits on the fat section that receives the power steering ram push rod.

2) drag link also crashes into the starter motor (t5 mini starter) at the same place

3) The drain bolt on the oil pan just barely kisses the nasty speed bumps.

Im running shorty headers so no other issues.

I put a 1/4 shim under both mounts so I ended up lowing the motor about 1/4 instead of a 1/2 and it clears fine now.

At first the RPM mounts transferred a lot of noise and vibrations into the car it took about 400 miles but they slowly settled in after some time and 2 attempts at "unloading them" to remove any possible binding issues. Now they are as smooth as the crappy stock ones but without being crappy.

So if your running a MS drag link with none of the Powersteer crap on it the lower one should work.

If you have PS draglink get the standar height ones.

I think your headers will clear fine either way.

You gotta make sure that it was NEVER ps.

The Drag link on the PS cars has a big fat bulge in the middle of it with a hole drilled through it. If you have just a single solid drag link with no fat bulges in it...I think you would be just fine.

My pan hit the engine bay crossmember, which had to be modified to sit lower....but I also run a deeper Canton pan. My headers had almost 0 ground clearance(but Hookers hang too low anyway) and the oil pan plug hung down too low for my liking.

My only real concern would be the oil pan, you hit that on something and you can have major issues, though 1/2" isn't a whole lot. Getting the drag link and cross member to clear will depend on the oil pan you have.

I have a Canton pan as well and on top of that my car sits super low. I think I will get stick with the standard height mounts.

I pulled the drop ones out and put the standard heights back in. The only reason I had them was to get the transmission tailshaft angle correct to set the driveline angle. Now I'm going to try and set it with the standard height, and only run the dropped if I have to....though I'm almost tempted to "tap" the clearance into the trans tunnel I need to raise the tail end.....with a 5lb hammer.
