Will an XE262H Lope in a 289?
I am putting together a 289 with a Performer 289 intake, 600 Holley, Tri-Y headers, 9:1 compression and pocket ported 289 heads with 351W valves.
I think the XE262H is what I want, but will it lope at all? I would rather this be a mild mannered, smooth idle street engine.

i'd should. remi has the 31-234-3 (xe256H) in his 289, and i think that lopes a bit already with overlap of 42 degrees. just noticeable.
for cam sounds i find the best source to be youtube ...
they're both xe262h according to the note

I ran the XE268H in my 331 and it had a mild lope. I imagine the smaller cam in the smaller displacement motor will have a similar idle. Nothing too mean, just enough to know it's there. If you really don't want it to lope, you can always retune the advance to run on full manifold vacuum.
