Rebuilt transmission has major leak. Need help
Welll I had my c-4 transmission rebuilt back in september with roughly 5,000 miles on the car. And here recently it doesn't shift as smoothly into 2nd when just cruising speed. And the other day I was getting on the highway and showing a friend its getup and go and had the pedal down. Well as it shifted into 3rd it leaked alot of fluid from which spot on the trans i dont know. But it then came out and hit the exhaust pipes and liquid and hot exhaust went into instant smoke. I was thinking maybe it was really full and it shot out of the overflow somehow but it has done it about 3 times so far.
Sorry so long of explaination but any help or ideas is appreciated.

As far as I know there isn't even a trans cooler on it. How would I be able to tell if there is or not (sorry i'm pretty new to transmissions) and if it doesn't what kind would you suggest?
Looked up info about it and pretty sure there isn't a trans cooler at all.

When I was at B&M, the most popular cooler for healthy street cars was the #70266. If you aren't really that hard on it, no converter or don't race, you can use the #70268. These were the most popular ones that are great for cooling. The 70266 has the 1/2" pipe thread on it so you can run complete lines and the 70268 uses high pressure hose which is included. My opinion, if you are going to start doing mods, go with the 70266.

Thanks found both of what I need. Jegs has the cooler for $72.00 but i'll continue to look around a little. And found a sweet looking trans guage for about 50 so there goes the window regulator I was going to buy. Kind of wondering why the shop didn't mention a cooler when it was rebuilt but its still under warranty so if anything else goes wrong i'm sure they will look at it. Thanks for the info its greatly appreciated.

Do yourself a favor, pull the dipstick out and smell the fluid. If it smells burnt, you will have to change the fluid again! Don't forget the fluid in the converter. There are 2 plugs in it so you can access it from the front. If it smells ok, you are good to go.

I had my c4 rebuilt also and it did not have a cooler. Developed a leak pretty quickly so i took it back and they replaced the trans pan. Still developed leaked so they finally added a trans cooler and all was well after that. Got a free trans cooler under warranty.
