Default Classic style radio needed for 65

OK, Custom autosounds gets HORRIBLE reviews, Retrosound just doesn't look too great. What else is out there with the classic look and good performance? I don't want the cassette or cd players but an auxiliary input is needed along with a good sound. If the classic look comes secondary, what else fits the dash without cutting but has the best sound?

I know that Custom Auto gets bad reviews, but they have been in business for almost 40 years, so they are doing something right. I bought one to replace the 28 year old one that was in mine when I bought it. I bought the USA 66.

I think most of us use the radio as secondary noise to the beautiful music of a well tuned SBF!!!!!!

I've installed a few of the USA66 radios, no problems, sound isn't half bad with good speakers. It's an excellent replica of the stock AM/FM radio, but is internally modern. The buttons don't tune it like the original, they control a remote CD changer.

all that means is that enough people get snowed over for a "stock" looking radio.I have replaced more then i have sold of their units.IMO,they are over priced and under developed.

My step dad had one of there radios in his 55 chevy it sounded like crap and died 2 years later. If it was me i would leave a none working stock radio in the dash hole or get the radio delete and mount a din size under the dash or in the glove box.

I agree, go with a glove box mount and your can run what ever radio you want.

I've been running a USA 66 in my 65 convertible for around 2 years. I never use the radio though (reception does suck, at least where I live). I got the ipod adapter for this radio and ran it down into the glove box of my non-A/C console. I just open the door, hook it up to my ipod, close the door and I get my tunes for as long as I want and nothing to mess with the appearance of my interior. I put together a great 50's-60's cruzin playlist that beats any oldies radio station.

I've got a USA66 and it has worked perfect. I even got it from a guy that had it new, in a box for a year or 2 before I put it in.. If you are looking for a more high powered head unit then I would go with a modern one.
