installing new intake manifold has led to...
Hi all,
In the middle of a 4 barrel upgrade. Now that I have the engine torn apart I am looking at all that needs done. Whew!!! Other than cleaning and painting all of the parts and engine compartment I am looking at the radiator. If you take it to a radiator shop what do they do? Also gonna install HIPO exhaust manifolds. I figure mine need painting and IF I get them out I might as well work on the exhaust side of my 4 barrel upgrade. Is there a difference in the heads of the C code A code? Other suggestions of what I should tear into? Car has 75k miles.
Thanks, Walt

May I suggest eastwood products for your engine compartment detailing project. They make great stuff.
http://www.eastwoodco.com/
Look under "Specialty Coatings"

I am looking at the radiator. If you take it to a radiator shop what do they do
they will pressure test it 1st then pull the radiator apart place it into a tank that dissolves rust alkili and such then maybe run a rod through each core. put it back together again and pressure test it again your radiator has just been roded and cored and as good as new.

Yeah, restored radiators are good for several thousand miles, but the integrity of the metal has been compromised. In my distant past, I had rads rodded when they were made out of real copper and not the crap they make them out of today. My suggestion is to scrap the old rad and get a new one, and especially consider a new aluminum one. Money saved down the road.....
